Are you still buying canned or frozen biscuits at the grocery store? STOP! You will save so much money by making biscuits from scratch. Not only will you save money, you will be providing healthy options for your family to eat. These biscuits are so easy to make but, yes, they take more time than opening a can of biscuits and dropping them on a pan.

Here is my recipe:
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup whole fat buttermilk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a medium-large bowl, mix by hand, flour and shortening. Use a "pinching" method (Watch the video to see the mixing method). Pour in the buttermilk and mix. Drop on a floured countertop and hand knead to mix well and pat to the thickness you prefer. Cut with a biscuit cutter, cookie-cutter, or even a drinking glass rim. Place on an iron skillet and cook for 12-16 minutes. When finished, spread butter on tops.
